a little swim party

CAUTION: Your eyes may become tired of reading this post and viewing its pictures because in spite of the title this post is far from little

I am terribly embarrassed by this, but I guess I tend to be a picture-a-holic, a picture-taking freak, if you will.  But, when it comes to taking pictures I take a lot because you never know what you might capture.  Plus, I figure the more I take the better chance I have of capturing a beautiful, wonderful, amazing or funny shot.

OK, so down to business here... finally.  The Taylor clan has a swim party (or multiple parties) each summer.  We simply love them!  What better excuse to get adorable pictures of my nieces and nephews, right??!
This year we had almost all of the grandkids there, though we missed the Poci Taylor crew and Amanda & Erika.  Perhaps next time?  We hope so :) In addition to the Taylor bunch we brought Taya.  Melanie called me that morning and asked me to keep her, and of course I agreed.  We have so much fun at our house with Taya there!  She & my girls play so well together, and I'm always ready to help a true friend in need.

The kiddos played, "swam," squirted water, made a mess in the sand box, ate yummy treats, including this one that we brought, grilled some hotdogs & hamburgers, played in the water some more, enjoyed a cool treat of popcicles & ice cream bars on that hot day, and headed home (well, we actually headed to Preston to my eye check-up and then to Stokes, but you get the idea).  How f.u.n.
Hannah hanging out in her sweet chair from Down East
.... really would love to get a couple for my girls (Berkley loved it, which you will see below)

Taya had just devoured a couple of yummy Milano cookies

Not sure what Owen was doing here... haha!

Taya loves dogs, and, as I expected, she loved Casper
It was darling because Taya kept calling Alan & Christine Grandma & Grandpa :)

Yummy Cheetos!

Austin hanging out in one of the three pools

This one "cracks" me up!  Halle baring it in the sandbox :)
Hey Halle, think I could borrow a little of that cute bum... mine is pretty much nothing!

And this is where the mud comes in....

I think they might have brought a little too much water into the sandbox.  What are your thoughts?!

A mud-splattered Harley

Berkley washing off in the water

Not unlike her friends Chloe & Berkley, Taya loves to swing!

Halle & Harley swimming in the alligator pool, or was it a crocodile?  I can't remember!

Chloe adores Ryker!
Here they are playing animals digging in the sandbox.... I honestly think they played this for a good half hour!

I captured this photo (and the one above) of Wyatt helping Hannah walk around  the yard
What I didn't capture was him trying to help her into the pool, which luckily did not end with her ending up head first in the water!

Taya & Berkley "laid down" for a bit of a rest after our yummy lunch.
As you can see they did a lot of resting :)
What silly, happy friends!

We brought our fun, but crazy sprinkler to the party.  This thing literally sprays water everywhere!
Hayden had so much fun playing with it!

Dorito girl trying out Hannah's fun chair

Berkley playing on the playset

These boys had so much fun on the slip 'n' slide!
It looks like Aust sliding down the hose made for a water-filled face!

Grandpa, who is one of the children himself, getting in on the action!

Austin likely did not know he was showing much more than he probably wanted!

Ryker had fun trying on Austin's goggles!

This is a pure model shot of Taya.  Love!

My beautiful and still kinda chubby Berkley
I love that she still has some chub, it makes her still seem a bit like a babe... She is growing up way too fast

Grace & Berk "dancing"

Ring around the Rosies.....
.... all fall down!

More ring around the rosies!

So, as you can see, what had a wonderful day!  It was fun, and we're looking forward to another one (hopefully soon)!!

P.S.  I'm super excited to be caught up.... again!  I have a couple of small posts (unrelated to pictures) that will hopefully be coming before the weekend, so keep your eyes peeled!  Thanks for always reading :)

Oh where, oh where shall they put a trail camera?

So the boys (meaning Chad & Brian) decided that it was time to go ahead and put up the trail camera Chad got for Christmas.  They put it somewhere near Egan Basin (I think... sorry, that's what happens when you have an out-of-towner attempting to explain where something is, but
for the record, I could totally show you how to get there)....?  Nevertheless, we took a very fun RZR ride and had a fun hike with the kids (me, Wendi, Gid, Grace, Halle, Chloe & Berkley).  I snapped a couple of photos, none of which include my children- let's just say they were far from a picture taking mood

Grace, Wendi, Halle, & Gid heading toward the pond to throw rocks.

Gid took some shots.  His posture is so much like his  dad

Halle being a goof!

And, in addition to the trail camera adventure, here are some random side notes from our last week...
We discovered these very little baby birds in a nest in one of our trees.
Let's just say the mother was not happy that Chad was taking this picture... :)

My sweet girls donned matching tanks (compliments of my mom) while they watched an episode of Word World on my iPod :)

Finn is seriously pooped in this one- he had just dug a deep hole and ran around the yard like a Banshee!

We have a ton of these butterflies flying around, and I caught this cool shot of it mid-flight with its shadow below

Hope you're holding onto your seats, but I AM CAUGHT UP, well with the exception of the photos I took today at the first Taylor grandchild water party of the season.  And yes, I do actually feel it appropriate to proclaim this in all caps, bold, italicized, and underlined :)  This means a lot to me; now I can finally rest easy (well, after the 150+ pics I need to look through from today- I know, pathetic, huh?) & start preparing for our trip.  Can't wait!!!!

a lazy summer day

Some summer days are just l.a.z.y....

It rained. We stayed inside with the windows open wide to let that refreshing scent seep in. Oh, was it ever nice to get a break from this HEAT... The girls helped make my Grandma's delicious homemade macaroni & cheese, Finn slept, Chloe "played" with Finn, and the girls lounged.  I absolutely prefer summer over winter, but it is always wonderful to get an inside, relax, and be lazy sort of day.

on the independence day

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this, but I truly love the Fourth of July!  How much fun is it to spend the day outside looking forward to the spectacular glow and shimmer of fireworks after the sun goes down?!  My hope is that these pictures convince you of just how much fun it really is :)
(and please do not allow me to forget that it is also wonderful because it is Gram's birthday!)
I've broken this post up into two sections (because we have a million pictures): 1. candid shots, 2. Photoshop fun shots.  These photos capture our day, and my dream is that the photos we take allow you all to feel as if you were right there with us in those moments we captured!
Classy... um, I think not!
Chloe has a slight issue with skirts, but they're so darn cute
that I don't have the heart to have her quit wearing them.

It wouldn't be me if I hadn't brought art supplies for the kids!

Working away on their masterpieces
Nice concentration, Chloe (notice her tongue sticking out- thankfully she doesn't just get it from me, Chad does this, too)

Ahh, the joys of forward growing hair

I call this the jump and throw

Grandpa brings this large water gun every year

Looks like Grandpa is about to get a bit of his own medicine!
Note the purple balloon flying towards him :)

Squirt!!

Danica's attempt at dodging Harley's balloon

Judging by the water on his shorts I'd say the grandkids got him pretty good!!

Owen chucking one out into the crowd

Gid was having such a ball

Nice form, Chad

Berkley & Gid were both contemplating a throw...
... Gid finally did gently throw it at Berkley :)

Alan took the kids over to fill squirt guns, while Chad tried to get him with a balloon
He came close (blue balloon above Owen's head), but almost hit Austin (running toward the fountain in the red shirt) instead!

Christine asked Chad if he'd get a few pictures of the grandchildren.
I wanted to share this shot because it certainly is not easy trying to get this many kids to cooperate!
This is one of the "silly" pictures we took
Hannah just kept sliding on her belly down the hill :)
(look for our favorite pictures below in the Photoshop fun section)

After what probably felt like hours of pictures to the kids, we were done.  Christine loudly announced to the kids to come and give her a hug.  This is how it began....

..... and it ended with Grandma on the ground covered in kids!
Landon leaned over to me during this time and said, "It's never a good idea to tell a bunch of 5-year-olds to 'go give Grandma a hug!'"

It was after the pictures that the kids got out a block of ice from the cooler to slide down the hill.
Landon was first.

Then Danica gave it a whirl
I love how much fun the others are having- look at those goofy happy faces following behind her :)

Deciding whose turn it is next...

A totally random shot, but I wanted to remember that on this day Berkley spent a ton of time playing with Colby and Hannah on their blanket
Berkley took my iPod over to take some pictures (none of which were anything special), but Colby helped her take this picture.  How sweet!
And honestly, could Berkley look any more like a child with her extremely messy face and disheveled hair??

Once the ice block lost the kids' interests rolling down the hill took suit

Hannah hung out with her dad on that blanket nearly all night!

*******************************************

I am in no way a professional photographer, and I certainly do not fully understand all of the effects and actions that can be taken on pictures in a Photoshop program, but I really enjoy doing my best to capture beautiful pictures and to take them and make them as professional-looking as I can.  Thanks to Pinterest I have even picked up a few pointers on making our pictures look more beautiful than our amazing Nikon already does.  So please don't think I know what I am doing or that I think I'm so totally awesome because I definitely am not, but I do love photography!

Sweet Hannah with her big blue eyes
Most of these photographs were thanks to her and Berkley :)

Beautiful!

This is definitely one of
my favorites
She was saying "Hannah"
at the moment I snapped this one

My handsome husband ;)
Our two Taylor grandchildren photos (minus Amanda & Erika) are below!  They're pretty good, but not everyone is looking.  Though, I'm not sure that could ever happen with 15, count them 15 kids!!!!!!!!!!!

These next three I absolutely cannot take credit for (and neither can Photoshop)- Chad took these by slowing down the shutter speed.  I l.o.v.e the warm glow they created ( I think I need to learn this trick)!

There were these colorful petals
all over the park
(from another event, I would assume), and they
were perfect for these pictures)!

Beautiful!

And back to the Photoshopped images...

I adore this one, as well!

So, I thought I liked this one until now.  I think the colors are a bit  more distorted than I thought they looked the other day while editing... perhaps we'll revisit this one another time!

Thank you Melanie, Colby & Hannah for this beautiful, yet candid shot (that you, um, didn't even know I took... sorry!!)

Love this girlie!

This photo and the one above are the same (duh! obviously you guys aren't amatures...), but I put a flash effect on the first, which is very Instagram-esque (and, therefore, much to my liking)!

Hannah with her eyes so blue!

What a fun picture, don't you think?!  And I love the glow, too!

The "Biggest Show in Idaho" usually does not disappoint, I mean it's obviously called that for a reason, right?!?  Well, I'm sad to say that this year just did not do it for me- it was short and, in my opinion, uneventful.  Here's to a better and perhaps bigger show next year...
