a bit of what you missed (part un)

And I'll be the first to admit that "a bit" is actually A LOT, but I suppose that's why I decided to break this post up into two (perhaps three or even *sigh* four) parts.

According to my calculations (a.k.a. the last post I made) it has been since the middle of November.  Wow, there has been much to tell, and I have my fingers crossed that I catch it up completely...

What did you miss?  Well, oodles of awesomeness starting with the news that I cannot believe I never posted here: we are having a BOY :)  In spite of our thoughts that we would have all girls, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that our lives will soon be filled with blues, greens, yellows, gray, dirt, tractors, trucks and trains (well, more of those anyway), and a closet that has what Chad always dreamed of- little boy Hurley clothes!  We are E.X.C.I.T.E.D. to say the least.  Chad text me about 10 times the day we found out to share his excitement- it was super cute and sweet.  The girls were excited, too: Berkley was right, and although Chloe did say she wanted a sister, she decided this was a much better fit for our family because it would mean that "...we'll be even, three girls and three boys (meaning Chad, Finn, and now baby brother)!"  Too funny!

Another thing you missed?  I kept seeing some of my cute pregnant friends taking adorable side shot pictures of their adorable growing bellies, and so I decided I wanted to take some, too.  Unfortunately, I don't think my belly pictures are anywhere near as sweet as theirs, but at least I have some for memory sake.

 {Berkley loves to give the baby kisses}

{Berk is still slightly convinced that there is a baby growing in her belly, too!}

I had my birthday, which I've discovered is far less exciting for adults.  We tried to have a good day, but it wasn't spectacular.  In fact, it really wasn't a fabulous day at all.  Let's just leave it at that :)

It was so awesome to decorate for Christmas, as always, but it was particularly neat to decorate our very own home!  I truly had every intention of taking lots of photos of our tree and decor inside & our lights outside, but alas, we did not!  December is always a full and c.r.a.z.y. month and taking pictures simply wasn't at the top of our priority list!

As the weeks in December went on so did our belly shot picture taking.  What was hilarious was Finn's reaction.  He started realizing that there was something important about us taking this pictures (he was probably thinking, 'Why in the world is he taking pictures of her?  This is weird.'  Because it is weird- I really do not like getting my picture taken.  I don't think I'm very photogenic, and I always feel unnatural when I go to have pictures taken (even though it is usually sweet Chad taking any picture that includes me).  Nonetheless, they continued...

 {23 weeks}
{I believe this was the last time I was able to fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans.  It was a sad day, but a happy one, too}
 {24 weeks along and Finn really wanted me to pick him up...}
{... and so I did!  I love this picture- although he can really irritate me, he is absolutely the most snuggly pup I've ever known}

2012 was our year to have Christmas at my parent's, so we had our own little family Christmas early!  It's so exciting for the kids to open gifts from Santa, and they even had a few gifts from us under the tree ;)
Heck, Finn even got a few gifts!  It was a fun morning opening and playing with presents.  We only snapped a few pictures with all the excitement, but I'll share those that we did take...

 {The girls opened their stockings first.  Chloe was impressed that Santa just happened to know she had dry lips and needed some lip stuff of her own.  Among the presents their stockings held include sweaters, treats, nail polish, lip stuff, and a cool crayon with eight colors to choose from}
 {Our humble tree prior to presents being opened}
 {Excitement as they sorted their gifts and were preparing to open them!}
 {Finn got three gifts, and he was seriously sniffing them as the girls "helped" him open them all}
 {we were thrilled to find this cute, cute stuffed candy cane dog toy at TJMAXX (I know, right?  I didn't even know they sold dog items), but were a bit disappointed when he had it destroyed and loosing stuffing after literally five minutes}
{our kiddos (yes, I suppose Finn could be lumped into this category because he really is a serious baby) with their Christmas treasures}

I suppose this is where I wrap it up for this post.  I'm beginning to think we might have two more posts based on the photos we've taken since before Christmas!  But, I'm calling it a night.  Perhaps the other posts will come tomorrow?  Or maybe one, at least?  Time will tell!  Thanks for hanging in with us even when we're neglectful.  With baby boy's due date quickly approaching (yes, I realize it is still 10 weeks away, but I know how fast the homestretch goes) we have been super busy completely home projects and doing a bit of sewing and shopping in preparation, which has used a good chunk of our time lately.  So, thanks for dealing with our busy, hectic schedule that sometimes makes blogging last on the list.

What's coming up?
Christmas back home
more belly shots
us doing daily things
sewing successes
home projects
Chloe's 5th birthday {I know, I can't believe she's so grown up}
*finally* a few before and afters of our home {I think we might actually have one room complete enough to
       post pictures}
a half-time dance {with video}
& hopefully a 30 week photo with name reveal {though pretty much every family member knows, including a
      few close friends}
